Located in Nelsonville, the mill was constructed in 1868 by Jerome Nelson. It holds musical and cultural events in early Spring into early Fall.

  • September 12, 2021 Sunday, "Celebrate Nelsonville" a public fundraising event of the Nelsonville Lutheran Church. Includes a Pig roast, brunch and local entertainment.
  • September 18 - 19, 2021 Saturday and Sunday, "Inside the Rising Star Mill - Through the Lens". A public art sale. Open 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, both days, September 18 - 19, 2021 Saturday and Sunday.
  • Oct 1-2 and 3, 2021, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, The Annual Rising Star Mill Open House and Barns of Portage County Exhibit. 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Konkol Corner Shrine

Konkol Shrine

Konkol Corners Shrine -- This is a roadside shrine. Roadside shrines are a uniquely Polish creation popular in Poland and found in many areas with a large Polish immigrant population. John Konkol built this shrine in 1912 on the corner of Hwys B & K. Portage County has at least 9 such shrines. A 'history' of the Konkol Shrine.pdf (20 megs).
