Civil War Flag

It was carried by the 18th Wis. Volunteer Regiment. The unit fought at Shiloh where Col. James Alban was killed. Many of the 18th were from central Wis although not necessarily Portage County.

The officer that obtained the flag after the unit disbanded was Capt. Bremmer of Amherst. We do not know how he came by it.

Eventually it was housed in the old Point Library as the property of the Historical Society.
